SAPS releases identikits in bid to trace Delft rape suspects

Police in the Western Cape seek public assistance in tracing  three suspects involved in two separate rape incidents in Delft.

Police have released identikits of the suspects involved in the two rape cases.

The provincial police spokesperson, Thembakazi Mpendukana, said the rape incidents took place in May and June.

“Police reports state that on Sunday, May 31,  at around 12.10pm the two suspects stopped their vehicle next to a young boy who was walking to the shopping mall and forced him into the car. They took him to an unknown location where they raped him,” Mpendukana said.

A case was opened at Delft SAPS for further investigation.

Police have urged anyone with information that might help with the investigation to kindly contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Luzipho, at 078 709 6145 or on 021 918 3539/14/15/16.

In a separate incident, a man believed to be in his late 20s, with a gun pointed at a young woman, forced her to walk with him to a park where he raped her.

“A rape case has been opened, and anyone with information that might help with the investigation is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer, Constable De Vos, at 066 413 9642 or at 021 918 3539/14/15/16,” Mpendukana said.
