The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has expressed concern following the recent arrest and subsequent court appearance of Regional Court Prosecutor Dinesh Nandkisoor, attached to the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.
Nandkisoor appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday and faces multiple charges related to allegations of sexual assault.
Arrested earlier that day, Nandkisoor is charged with sexual assault and sexual intimidation, alongside two counts of corruption and defeating the ends of justice.
His case has been transferred to Johannesburg due to concerns regarding his proximity to staff members in his former court.
The incidents leading to the charges stem from a troubling allegation that a complainant had sought Nandkisoor’s assistance regarding a matter involving her brother.
However, during a later interaction, it is alleged that he engaged in inappropriate conduct, which culminated in attempts to dissuade her from reporting the incident to authorities.
The gravity of these allegations has prompted the Ministry to take a strong stance, emphasising the importance of accountability within the justice system.
“The Ministry supports the work of law enforcement agencies and the National Prosecuting Authority in ensuring that the matter is properly investigated and prosecuted,” stated Kubayi.
As the case progresses, it has been postponed to March 30, 2026, for a formal bail application.
Reports indicate that the State intends to oppose bail, and Nandkisoor remains in custody as these serious allegations continue to unfold.
