Just in: Two dead Following A Drive By Shooting in

According to a post shared by Yusuf Abramjee, a prominent South African anti-crime activist,he reported a drive-by shooting in Manenberg, Cape Town, on March 31, 2026, killing two people in Tousberg and Sugarloaf areas, following an earlier incident where an elderly man was shot dead at a local shop.

Manenberg, a Cape Flats township, has endured chronic gang violence for decades, primarily between rival groups like the Hard Livings and Clever Kids, contributing to South Africa’s murder rate of over 45 per 100,000 people, with Cape Town hotspots accounting for thousands of annual gang-related deaths.

The post amplifies public frustration over delayed action, as President Ramaphosa’s February 2026 announcement of an 800-soldier SANDF deployment to the Cape Flats begins only on April 1, 2026, despite ongoing flare-ups like the recent killings of a 34-year-old and a Somali shopkeeper.
