The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has confirmed that it has not located the luxurious Bentley Continental GT tied to the ongoing investigation in the procurement irregularities at Tembisa Hospital.
The high-end Bentley belongs to alleged tender fraudster Hangwani Maumela, a prominent figure in the SIU’s investigations.
Earlier, the SIU raided Omar Motor Den in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga and seized a Bentley which later turned out not be the one they were looking for.
According to SIU spokesperson Selby Makgotho, Omar Motor Den owner, Yusuf Omar, admitted that he sold the Bentley under investigation.
The dealership clarified that the Bentley currently displayed on its showroom floor is not the vehicle that is being sought by the SIU.
The car was sold despite a preservation order served in October 2025, which sought to prevent the alienation of assets linked to an ongoing investigation.
The tribunal has ordered Omar Motor Den to provide the SIU-appointed curator with documentation relating to the sale of the vehicle, including records detailing ownership and its current whereabouts. The dealership has until Tuesday, 9 June 2026, to submit the required information.
The matter has escalated further, with Omar Motor Den and its owner being directed to appear before the Special Tribunal on 3 July 2026. During the hearing, they will be required to explain why they should not be held in contempt of court for failing to comply with previous court orders.
If found in contempt, the tribunal could impose a range of sanctions, including imprisonment.

The seizure of the car comes in response to the dealership’s failure to disclose the Bentley’s possession when served with a preservation order in October 2025, which sought to prevent the alienation of assets linked to an ongoing investigation.
The SIU’s investigation revealed a troubling history of ownership transfers involving the Bentley. Originally transferred to the MHR Maumela Family Trust in 2018, the vehicle transitioned ownership to LSM Distributors, then to DriveTime Auto CC. Finally, Omar Motor Den acquired it in October 2025, before transferring it once more, this time to Khonile Trading Enterprise CC in February 2026.
