A 93-year-old grandmother and her 70 year old daughter were robbed at knifepoint while in their home in Dawncrest, Verulam, on Thursday.
According to a statement by Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), the suspect entered the upper level of the property.
Rusa said the women heard noises prior to the incident but believed a troop of monkeys climbed onto the balcony.
The man instructed the 93-year-old to remain silent.
“A mobile phone was stolen and the women were uninjured.”
A female reaction officer was despatched to the scene to comfort the traumatised victims.
