A 17-year-old mother of a one-year-old child was allegedly killed by her partner. He had reportedly abused her before, despite her family helping her seek police protection.
The father of her one-year-old child has allegedly murdered Mbali Lantu, a 17-year-old Mthwalume teen. The incident reportedly happened at Mnafu in Mthwalume, on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.
According to a report by 1KZN TV, the suspect allegedly assaulted Mbali. Desavior has chosen not to publish details of the attack.
Her mother claims the suspect had a history of abusing Mbali. On one occasion, he allegedly assaulted her and dragged her onto a railway line, leaving her injured.
The family reportedly encouraged Mbali to open a case against him at the police station. She eventually opened a case and also obtained a protection order against him.
However, the family says they do not know what happened after that. According to them, the suspect was released and Mbali eventually returned to him.
Now, after the alleged murder of the Mthwalume teen, her family is demanding that the suspect be arrested. They want him held accountable for Mbali’s death. Her loved ones say they are devastated by the loss.
