Multi-award-winning content creator Grace Mondlana hosted a birthday party for her dog Kai and had her followers’ tongues wagging.
Mondlana is known for her vlogs where she shares moments from her life with her three million followers on Instagram.
Before the big day, Mondlana shared a vlog of her doing a few final preparations for the party and a few preps around her home.
Inviting guests into your home can be daunting, but Mondlana had clear boundaries for her guests. No guests allowed upstairs and no taking pictures by her grand mirror outside the guest toilet.
Everyone loves a good mirror selfie, but Mondlana was firm on no pictures in front of hers. One TikTok user asked Mondlana why her guests can’t take pictures in front of her mirror; she answered that it is her “personal space”.

The weather was on Mondlana’s side as she hosted the celebration in the backyard. The decor was pastel blue and yellow, colours that dogs can see, and was done by Moltys Royal Events.
Mondlana’s guests, who included fellow creators Banele “Moghelingz” Ndaba, Bheki Ndamase and Tadéus, brought along their fur babies for Kai’s birthday, and they were treated to premium doggie snacks.

For her party, Mondlana went all out and had face painting, pawtails, a jumping castle and no party is ever complete without cake and cupcakes.
As with Mondlana’s previous events, Kai’s birthday party had people weighing in, from the no pictures to the decor; many had plenty to say.
Some of the public agreed with Mondlana’s no-picture rule in her personal space, especially in the era of social media; some things must be protected.
