Police in Cape Town are appealing to the public for assistance in finding missing 21-year-old Wanita Hartnick, who disappeared without a trace on Monday, August 31.
Hartnick was last seen leaving her Eerste River home at about 5.30am.
The Western Cape police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, said there had been no leads on the whereabouts of the missing woman.
“Wanita Hartnick was last seen by her mother on Monday, August 31, when she left her residence to go to work. When her mother returned home in the evening, Wanita was not home and has not been seen since. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing grey tracksuit pants, a blue beanie, and black running shoes,” Twigg said.

Police urge anyone with information that can assist with the investigation, or who knows the whereabouts of Wanita, to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Ricardo Solomons, at 071 869 7146, or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
The Western Cape Missing Persons Unit (WCMPU) has also been distributing flyers, hoping someone may know of Hartnick’s whereabouts.
The founder of WCMPU, Candice van der Rheede, told IOL the lack of leads was concerning.
“We have had absolutely no leads. No one has seen her or heard from her. That is extremely concerning. If she is out there and she sees this article, she needs to please contact me. I would like to reassure people that, no matter what issues they may have, they can contact me,” she said.
Van der Rheede also explained that while their aim is finding missing persons, the organisation goes beyond this and assists those with essential services needed during traumatic events.
“The work WCMPU does is not just searching for people but also giving them access to counselling services and so much more. People just need to trust us with confidential information,” she said.
