Taxi violence in Cape Town has now created chaos at the Cape Town International Airport.
On Friday, travellers were seen in snaking queues because of staff shortages.
Reports say travellers are missing flights or waiting hours to check in, with several flights being delayed.
In a response to the delays, FlySafair confirmed to its customers on X (formerly Twitter) that operations at the airport are currently being impacted by the unrest in the area.
“Hi, Cape Town airport operations are currently being impacted by unrest in the area, which has resulted in airport staff shortages and delays to several flights. Our teams are working hard to minimise the disruption and get passengers on their way as safely and quickly as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the delay.”
Cape Town International Airport has also responded and urged travellers to arrive several hours before departure due to possible traffic disruptions and delays due to ongoing taxi-related unrest in parts of the City.
