‘Cassper will never get to my level’: Prince Kaybee slams rapper’s fitness and musical artistry
The long-standing rivalry between South African DJ Prince Kaybee and rapper Cassper Nyovest just got a whole lot pettier – and a lot more expensive.
Dropping by YFM for an explosive interview with Ayanda MVP and co-host Sinaye Kotobe, the DJ and producer didn’t hold back.
From dismissing Nyovest’s musical credibility to explaining exactly why their highly anticipated boxing match will never happen, Kaybee cleared the air with absolute confidence.
When the topic of Nyovest hit the airwaves, Kaybee completely dismissed the rapper’s artistry. Instead of recognising him as a true musician or rapper, Kaybee linked Nyovest’s success to being a “gimmick” rather than a genuine talent.
The conversation shifted to the boxing ring, a playground Nyovest has been dominating with his Celeb City boxing matches.
According to Kaybee, if they ever square off, it’s going to cost Nyovest’s team a lot more than they think.
While fans have been begging for the two titans to settle their beef with gloves on, Kaybee revealed that he actually received an official email from Nyovest’s camp. The problem? The paycheck was insulting.
“I doubt that will ever happen,” Kaybee stated bluntly.
“First, financially, it doesn’t make sense for me. I saw the email from his team; they were offering like half a mil (R500,000). I’m not going to train for half a million; they must give me like 3 (million) maybe.”
Apart from the money, Kaybee insists there is simply no competition when it comes to athleticism.
“Fitness-wise, Cassper will never get to my level, unfortunately. We are not even the same weight, size.”
A heartbreaking loss inspired his fitness journey
Behind the sculptured physique and the confidence, Kaybee opened up about a deeply personal tragedy that fueled his intense commitment to health and fitness.
“Essentially, it is all about weight loss, but something significant happened in my life,” Kaybee shared.
“I lost my mom a year ago. My mom was overweight; she actually died in my arms. It was a crazy experience. Cut the long story short, I took it upon myself that I want to be present in the whole sphere of weight loss.”
His diet
Kaybee revealed he only eats one meal a day.
When co-host Sinaye Kotobe questioned how he manages to pack on and maintain serious muscle with such a strict fasting routine, he said: “I think it is just genetics in most cases. There’s some people who don’t train as hard as I do, but they are big and cut, and you just wonder how, but it’s genetics.”
No more 4am club life
Being one of South Africa’s most booked DJs usually means late nights and chaotic sleep schedules, but Kaybee has rewritten the rules to protect his routine.
How does he balance the nightlife with his strict fitness goals? By leaving early.
“So I leave after I am done playing,” he explained.
“Now I don’t leave the club around 4am, guys. I’m not about that life.”
What’s next?
Kaybee’s fitness journey isn’t just confined to the gym or short runs. He’s taking his passion for cycling to the next level.
Talking about the HiPace Cycle Challenge, where he cycled 600km from Midrand to Durban over three days, he said: “I want to do this yearly. Annually, we will do the 600kms, it depends whether it’s Durban, but as long as it’s 600kms.
“So from next year, it will be open to everyone that wants to come.”
