Comedian Russell Brand turns to religion amid “bodily autonomy” violations trial

Russell Brand has spoken about relying on his Christian faith during his ongoing trial in London over allegations of bodily autonomy violations.

According to TMZ, Brand appeared alongside his wife, Laura, in a video posted on Wednesday, October 21. The couple said they would be “extremely cautious” about discussing the proceedings publicly. Laura described arriving at court as feeling like putting on armour and preparing for battle.

Brand responded by reading a Bible passage about wearing “the full armour of God,” saying it had helped him feel calmer in court. He said his life “doesn’t belong to me” and credited his faith with helping him cope with the proceedings. Brand also said he was turning to God, truth and justice during the trial.

According to the report, he faces three counts of r@pe, three counts involving alleged bodily autonomy violations and one count of indecent assault in the UK. Several women have testified about their alleged encounters with him. Brand denies having engaged in non-consensual intimate activity. The allegations remain before the court.
