The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) has appealed to members of the public to assist in locating 40-year-old Buntu Ndevu, who is wanted in connection with the enforcement of a court order and an outstanding warrant of arrest.
According to the Hawks, Ndevu was convicted on six counts of fraud by the KuGompo Regional Court in August 2021. He received a five-year prison sentence, wholly suspended on condition that he did not commit another fraud-related offence during the suspension period.
The court also ordered him to repay R610,000 to the identified victims.
Authorities said Ndevu failed to comply with the conditions of his suspended sentence, including the repayment of the victims, prompting the court to issue a warrant for his arrest on 29 April 2022.
He was later traced and arrested in Cape Town in 2024. Following his court appearance, Ndevu indicated that he intended to comply with the original sentencing conditions. However, he failed to honour the court’s directives once again, resulting in a further warrant for his arrest being issued in March 2025.
The Hawks have urged anyone with information regarding Ndevu’s whereabouts to come forward and assist law enforcement authorities.
Officials have assured the public that all information received will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact Colonel Raymond Buys on 082 301 1135.
