Pupil allegedly pulls knife on teacher during exam at Phoenix school

A 15-year-old pupil is being monitored by security at a Phoenix school after he allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened to stab his teacher when she spoke to him about his appearance and behaviour.

“Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) officers were called to the school after the pupil respond to the teacher with vulgar language and insisted that he was unwell and wanted to write his examination in the office rather than in the examination room on Monday morning,” said Prem Balram, head of RUSA.

He said the pupil threatened to stab the female teacher, and had a black knife with him.

“The pupil was writing an exam at the time of the incident. School examination procedures reportedly prevented his immediate removal from the examination room.

“The situation was assessed by responding Reaction Officers while arrangements for further intervention were pending,” Balram added.

This is a developing story.
