In a moment that literally had American singer Usher Raymond raising his eyebrows, things got awkward after 24-year-old fan Gabrielle Cheyenne was called on stage during one of the singer’s signature fan interactions on Raymond and Chris Brown’s joint “The R&B Tour”.
If you’ve been anywhere near social media over the weekend, chances are you have already seen the cringe clip circulating.
During the Nashville stop of the tour on Friday, July 25, Raymond invited Cheyenne on stage as part of his performance of “Can U Handle It?”.
Cheyenne barely soaked the moment in like many fans who get invited on stage usually do, she looked like she was mentally planning her trip back to her seat instead.
The expression on her face did not go unnoticed by the “Confessions” singer either.
“I don’t think she wanna be on stage, huh?” Raymond told the crowd before signaling for her to get off the stage, leaving viewers second-hand embarrassed.
Social media wasted no time trying to figure out what went wrong. Some assumed she had a boyfriend. Others thought she was simply waiting for the other King of R&B to call her name. As it turns out, one of the theories was correct.

Speaking to “TMZ” after the incident, Cheyenne explained that audience members aren’t told which artist they’ll be joining on stage before being selected.
“You also don’t know who you’re going on stage for or with,” she said.
She then admitted there was one big reason behind her reaction.
“Me, solely, I went to the concert for Chris Brown. It’s nothing against Usher or anything like that, but I’m more of a Chris Brown fan than I am of Usher. So, of course, it would’ve been a different reaction with Chris Brown.”
She added that if Brown had been the one to call her on stage, “It wouldn’t have been the stiffness or whatever the internet is portraying.”
According to reports, Cheyenne also addressed the backlash in a series of posts that have since been deleted on Facebook after some social media users accused her of wasting the opportunity.
“First off NOBODY is declining to go on stage. I looked good asf, you thought I wasn’t gonna let THOUSANDS of people see me?? On the big screen, where you b****es will never be???!”

She went on to explain that she and her mother had originally bought floor seats before being upgraded by the event team.
“My mom and I had FLOOR SEATS. Their team approached us and moved us to VIP before the show even started!! PRETTY PRIVILEGES something you h*** will never know about!!
“They don’t say who you’re going up there for!! CHATT FOLKS AREN’T USED TO ANYTHING. That’s the most exciting thing that would’ve happened in y’all little ass lives!! F*** yall, DISRESPECTFULLY,” she wrote, addressing people from her hometown.
Raymond and Brown’s “The R&B Tour” has become known for its fan interactions, with both singers regularly inviting women from the audience on stage during their performances.
The moment has become one of the tour’s biggest highlights, with many fans hoping to be chosen each night.
