A woman was shot dead in Durban North on Sunday evening in an attack that also left a delivery biker and a child injured, prompting a police investigation and the closure of a busy roadway.
ALS Paramedics said emergency crews responded shortly after 5.30pm to a shooting on Blackburn Road near Park Road.
Upon arrival, paramedics found multiple security personnel and SAPS officers already at the scene, with the road closed to traffic.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics were directed to a vehicle riddled with bullet holes, where they found a woman believed to be in her 40s who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
After assessing her injuries, paramedics determined there was nothing they could do to save her and she was declared dead at the scene.
According to ALS Paramedics, a delivery biker was also injured after allegedly being struck while riding past the scene. He stopped further down the road, where paramedics stabilised him before transporting him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
A child sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital for further care.
Blackburn Road remained closed for some time while SAPS investigated the shooting.
