THE Sydenham Community Policing Forum (CPF) is appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was kidnapped, robbed, and pushed out of the moving vehicle before robbers ran over him and made their getaway.
According to a report from Stealth Tactical Armed Response, the man was accosted along Spencer Road, in Clare Estate on Sunday afternoon.
“Upon arrival, responders found the victim with a severe leg injury. It is alleged that he had been robbed along Spencer Road by suspects travelling in a white Toyota Avanza.
“The suspects allegedly forced the victim into the vehicle, robbed him of his belongings, drove onto the Musjid property, and pushed him from the vehicle before driving over his leg while fleeing the scene.
“The patient was stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital for further medical treatment,” the report stated.
Kavir Boodoo, spokesperson for the Sydenham CPF, said they were deeply disturbed by the brazen act of violence in broad daylight.
“Criminals are becoming increasingly ruthless, and incidents of this nature underscore the urgent need for greater police visibility, intelligence-led operations, and stronger partnerships between SAPS, private security, community organisations, and residents.
“We commend the swift response by all emergency and security personnel and urge anyone with information that may assist the investigation to come forward. Criminals must know that our communities will not tolerate lawlessness and that we will continue working together to ensure those responsible are identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
“Our thoughts are with the victim and their family, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery,” Boodoo added.
He said the victim was in a stable condition and recovering from the ordeal.
