South Africa can expect another cool winter’s day on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, with generally stable weather conditions dominating much of the country.
No severe weather warnings, fire danger alerts or advisories have been issued by the South African Weather Service.
Gauteng will start with some fog patches in the south-eastern areas before clearing to partly cloudy skies. Conditions will remain cool throughout the day with no chance of rain expected.
Mpumalanga will see cloudy conditions across the eastern parts during the morning, accompanied by drizzle and fog over the Highveld and escarpment regions.
The province will become partly cloudy later in the day, remaining cool, while the Lowveld turns pleasantly warm. Rain chances are around 30 percent in the eastern areas during the morning.
Limpopo will also experience a cloudy start in the east, with fog and drizzle along the escarpment. Conditions will gradually improve during the afternoon, especially in western areas where skies are expected to clear. The chance of light rain remains at 30% over the eastern escarpment and far northeastern sections.
The North West Province is expected to enjoy a dry day with fine and cool weather in the morning, becoming partly cloudy from late morning onwards. No rainfall is expected.
The Free State will be cold to cool with some morning fog in the east before partly cloudy conditions develop. Rain is not anticipated.
Across the Northern Cape, partly cloudy and cold to cool conditions will prevail. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over central and western parts of the province, bringing a 30 percent chance of rain. The extreme eastern areas are likely to remain dry.
The Western Cape will be fine in the west, while northeastern districts may see isolated showers and thundershowers through to the afternoon. Most areas will experience cool to cold weather, with rain chances of around 30 percent in the northeastern interior and dry conditions elsewhere.
The western half of the Eastern Cape will be partly cloudy and cool to cold, with isolated showers developing over the interior. Rain chances stand at 30% in affected areas.
The eastern half of the Eastern Cape will remain partly cloudy and cool to cold, with isolated showers mainly confined to the southwestern districts. Rain chances are also around 30 percent.
KwaZulu-Natal will begin and end the day with areas of fog over the interior. The remainder of the province will be partly cloudy and cold to cool, with isolated showers and light rain expected along the eastern coastal belt and adjacent regions. Rain chances are approximately 30% in these areas.
Overall, Tuesday will be a relatively quiet winter day across South Africa, with the best chances for rainfall confined to parts of the Northern Cape, northeastern Western Cape, Eastern Cape interior, eastern KwaZulu-Natal, eastern Mpumalanga and the Limpopo escarpment. Most central and inland regions will remain dry, cool and partly cloudy.
