Two teenagers are expected to appear in court on Monday after a 59-year-old woman was stabbed to death in St Montague Village, Steenberg, in the early hours of Friday morning.
The victim was discovered in St Christopher Avenue on 05 June, after what police say was an argument with a relative that escalated into violence.
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, the woman sustained multiple stab wounds and was declared deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
Steenberg police have opened a murder case for investigation under the Steenberg policing precinct, with the incident believed to be domestic-related.
Police confirmed the arrest of two suspects shortly after the incident.
“We can confirm that two female suspects aged 18 and 19 were arrested in connection with the murder and will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 08 June 2026,” said Twigg.
The suspects are expected to appear at the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court.
The South African Police Service has confirmed that investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack are continuing.
