Zakes Bantwini expands his global reach with new double single ‘Impatient’ and ‘You Never Know’

Grammy Award-winning South African artist Zakes Bantwini has expanded his international electronic music footprint with the release of his latest double single, “Impatient” and “You Never Know”, on global electronic music label Anjunadeep.

The release sees the Afro-house pioneer team up with fellow South African star Sun-El Musician on “Impatient”, while “You Never Know” features South African-born, London-based producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jordan Arts. New artist kisskisskiss also features on the release.

For listeners unfamiliar with the label, Anjunadeep is a global electronic music record label and events platform known for its melodic, progressive and atmospheric sound. Founded in 2005 as a sister label to Anjunabeats, it has become a major name in the international electronic music scene, with a roster that includes established and emerging artists.

Zakes Bantwini’s move onto the label marks another step in his career as one of the South African artists helping take African electronic music to international audiences.

The artist has spent more than two decades building his career in Afro-house and earned a Grammy Award in 2023 for Best Global Music Performance for ‘Bayethe’, his collaboration with Nomcebo Zikode and Wouter Kellerman.

He has also enjoyed international success with hits including “Osama” with Kasango, which has surpassed 60 million streams across platforms and spent 14 consecutive weeks at number one on South African radio.

On “Impatient”, Zakes Bantwini reunites with Sun-El Musician, whose catalogue includes the hit “Akanamali” and several multi-platinum releases certified by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).

The collaboration also features vocals from emerging artist kisskisskiss.

“You Never Know”, meanwhile, brings Zakes Bantwini together with Jordan Arts, who was born in South Africa and is now based in London.

Arts has already attracted support from international electronic music names including David Guetta, Paul van Dyk and Lane 8. He has also performed at events such as Ultra South Africa and Durban’s Anywhere In Your City festival.

The new release comes as Zakes Bantwini continues to expand his work beyond music. In 2026, he launched the Zakes Bantwini Foundation and has continued performing internationally, including shows in New York and Bali, as well as major events in South Africa through his Mayonie Productions brand.

“Impatient” and “You Never Know” are out now on Anjunadeep.
